Lets have some more reviews of upcoming Eurovision songs shall we? OK, where shall we head to now? Sweden it is then…
Considered by many to be one of the best entries this year, I fail to see how “Undo” sung by Sanna Nielsen is near the top of the betting market. I find the song rather dull and the chorus highly irritating. Sweden have had much better options than this in the past and failed dismally and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if this fails to qualify. It will, but it wouldn’t be a shock to me if it didn’t. What do you think?
Next on today’s menu is Iceland who have entered a few good songs over the years and last year finished 17th in the contest. Pollaponk perform “No Prejudice“, a curious number that is a bit punk, but with a huge amount of “Magic Carpet Ride” thrown in aswell. It’s a funky beat and I actually quite like this. I’d like to see it qualify, although I have a feeling this may be Iceland first failure in some time.
And off to Albania we go with a song called “One Night’s Anger” sung by Hersi. I think this may be Albania’s answer to Celine Dion. I don’t like this one at all. I find her voice annoying but the overall song is boring. This kind of thing does qualify, but the bookies agree with me with its price of 100/1 to win the contest outright. We aren’t doing to well so far are we? Not many songs to like thus far, perhaps the next one will be better?
Finally today we have the obligatory set of twins. the only problem is that they are Russia’s entry this year. Now it would NOT surprise me at all that they are booed at every opportunity and that there is some kind of protest against them. Not the Tolmachevy Sisters‘ fault of course, but in light of goings on in Ukraine and Crimea, what do we expect? As for the song “Shine“…yawwwwnnnn. Boring, boring BORING! There just seems to be nothing to this song to make it exciting or different or original. Move along, nothing to see here…unless you disagree, tell me why.
More songs soon, we are almost halfway through the first semi final so far.
