She quickly joins with others of her kind to rid the world of a terrible enemy intent on domination.

The Hype: This Twilight-esque fantasy fiction, from a set a novels by Cassandra Clae gives us the beginning of yet another series of teen movies that will be milked like a cow until the actors in it are just too old to go on in the series. However, less has been spent on this movie than in some of its rivals in the genre and that was probably a wise idea.
What I Thought: From the trailer, it looked ok, but the full film is just what I described above. It is clearly marketed and aimed at the teen fiction fans. So, basically if you like Twilight, then you’ll probably enjoy this aswell. I would say that it was definitely better than Twilight as they did pick some actors that could act (apart from the lead role) but even the likes of Lena Headey (who isn’t actually in most of it) cannot save this film from a poor mark from myself. Some of the special effects are quite nice and done on a modest budget, but the box office take for me doesn’t warrant the next in the series being made. Although it has been announced, it is not clear when it will be and it wouldn’t surprise me if the project fades into nothing after a while.
Conclusions: Teen fiction fantasy that should probably be avoided if you are just not into it. Certainly better than Twilight, but hey, that’s not hard now is it?
