Synopsis: A hotel handyman spends a week with his niece and nephew and the stories he tells them at bedtime start to magically come true.
Main Cast: Adam Sandler, Keri Russell, Guy Pearce, Richard Griffiths, Lucy Lawless, Russell Brand, Jonathan Pryce, Courtney Cox
The Hype: At a time when Adam Sandler really needed a hit movie, this one popped up and gave everyone what they wanted. A box office success and a typical Disney feel good film.
What I Thought: Following the recommendation from my wife to get a hold of this for my son Xander, I decided to watch it with him this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Yes, so ok, its a Disney “once upon a time” movie and we all know how it is going to turn out in the end, but the story (or in this case stories) are nicely played out and Sandler’s ability to have an audience warm to his character is once again on show here. He has done other films with a similar storyline, but I liked this one. Xander lost a bit of interest and came back later on and really enjoyed it eventually.
Conclusions: A typical live action feel good Disney movie with some nice effects, good cast and lovely story. Sometimes, this is just what is needed for an afternoon’s viewing.
