Synopsis: Our group of retired and extremely dangerous assassins are at it again. This time saving the world from an eccentric weapons genius who is intent on blowing up pretty much half of the Middle East and whoever happens to be in the vicinity at the time.
Main Cast: Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Anthony Hopkins, Mary Louise Parker, John Malcovich, Catherine Zeta Jones, Byung-hun Lee
The Hype: Not a lot surround this one to be honest. It’s a paycheck for the cast and it’s probably a completely unnecessary sequel that will make a few quid at the box office and keep the studio going for a while.
What I Thought: It was alright. I preferred the first movie and this one doesn’t take us anywhere that the first movie didn’t. Anthony Hopkins was an excellent choice and he plays the mad genius pretty well. There are some funny bits in the film, not as many as the first but just to hear Helen Mirren saying the “F Word” whilst firing off a couple of machine guns gives this film a better mark than I might have given it. The story is decent enough, and the action is good as the first movie, but its a “brain-out-of-the-head” movie and you should probably only watch it if you really have nothing else to watch. It’ll no doubt make a good stocking filler on DVD this Christmas.
Conclusions: Decent story and action, good cast and some good humour from Mary Louise Parker but nothing to write home about otherwise.
