Synopsis: Carl Lucas aka Frankenstein is now just one race away from winning his freedom from Terminal Island, a maximum security prison where the only form of entertainment is to take part in the TV phenomenon Death Race. When the prison’s management is taken over, Lucas’ current deal with the boss is called into question and he will have to strike a new bargain to become a free man once more.

Main Cast: Luke Goss, Ving Rhames, Danny Trejo, Tanit Phoenix, Dougray Scott, Robin Shou, Fred Koehler

The Hype: Zero I’m afraid, it’s a straight to DVD job this one, but that’s no bad thing to be honest. A film like this makes it money from DVD sales. It is usually only the first in a series of films like these that do anything at the cinema and Jason Statham has moved on from this one.

What I Thought: It wasn’t all that bad really. It’s much more of the same form the last movie, but in this case we are abroad so the setting is much bigger. The action is all there though and its pretty decent despite being low-budget. We also have the returning of most of the cast from the previous film which is always nice to see. This series of films could go on forever, but I think there only really scope for one more perhaps. Dougray Scott usually plays a pretty good bad guy and this film is no exception and he lets some of his Fife upbringing trickle into this script with some nice Scots lines and he is one of the highlights of this movie.

Conclusions: Don’t expect too much from this. Just remove your brain, don’t analyse and enjoy this action flick for what it is, mindless entertainment that will make a good stocking filler from the bargain buckets by next Christmas. Having said all that…its STILL better than Zero Dark Thirty 😉
