Synopsis: A pair of paranormal debunkers manage to get themselves involved in investigating a world-renowned psychic who has suddenly surfaced after a 30 year silence. Will this be the last performance of the great Simon Silver? or will he officially unveiled as a fraud.

Main Cast: Robert De Niro, Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy, Elizabeth Olsen, Toby Jones, Joely Richardson

The Hype: I saw the trailer a while ago and liked the look of this psychological thriller. I guess it isn’t the sort of thing that tabloid press like as reviews weren’t too favourable and indeed Rotten Tomatoes visitors were just as sceptical about the film just as its main characters were about each other.

What I Thought: True to form, I disagree with the usual rabble of people and reviewers and have to tell you that I liked the film. The story was engaging and there are a few twists and unexpected events that take place that change the direction in which the film is going. I think the main actors do a respectable job and carry the plot well. The direction is slick and although there aren’t too many special effects at work here what there are, are done nicely and fulfill their purpose.

Conclusions: Good story, nice twists and although not a scary film, it all comes to a nice finish. Entertaining and satisfying.
