Synopsis: Agent J (Will Smith) has to travel back in time to 1969 in order to change the course of history and prevent both his friend Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) being killed and a race of terrifying aliens from destroying the planet. Time travel galore and lots of alien gloop.

Main Cast: Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Jemaine Clement, Josh Brolin, Emma Thompson

The Hype: This film has had quite some buzz about it since it was announced and its been 10 years since the last movie. I know, doesn’t time fly? It has been heavily plugged in the cinemas in both 2D and 3D and a very successful opening weekend has made it one of the hits of the year.

What I Thought: Sometimes when a film comes out after a break the quality of the movie is just not up to the standard of the others. This is an exception to the rule, I was entertained throughout and enjoyed the movie. It’s just like the first one really and although it’s not an original time travel idea, it’s a good script and performed well by the cast. The star of the show for me is Josh Brolin, whose Tommy Lee Jones impression is brilliant. He really has the voice, and all of the mannerisms perfectly copied and this made the film very easy to watch. Smith is his usual self and Agent J is one of the roles he will be remembered for. The special effects are very well done, particularly on the main villain – Boris The Animal – and there may just be room for another MIB film yet.

Conclusions: I liked it. Its well made, some very good acting by Brolin, good action and a decent story made this film a good watch for what it is and I wouldn’t be disappointed to see the franchise continue a little longer. I’m not sure if 3D would be worth it though, I don’t think that would add anything more to the film.
