The A-Z Blogging Challenge is something that I am taking part in for the first time. It has been going for a few years and is more popular that ever. The premise is very simple. Each day in April with the exception of a few Sundays, bloggers from around the world blog for 26 days in April with each day’s blog beginning with the next letter of the alphabet, so April 1st is “A”, the 2nd is “B” and so on. The subject of each blog can be anything as long as it is to do with the appropriate letter. Some people blog about anything, some people theme their blogs. I hope you enjoy reading some of my posts and if I would love to read your comments about my challenge.

“U” is for U2 & Undertones

ntil the band went overly commercial, U2 were a cracking band. Their early albums were meaningful, well written and the sound was an original one. I remember hearing the live concert they did from Red Rocks on cassette and loved it. Unfortunately after the massive success of The Joshua Tree, the follow up album was when I really went off the band. Rattle & Hum just didn’t cut it and ever since I have only been able to listen to a select few single releases. The track I have chosen is from their second album October. Enjoy “Gloria”.

Second today is another band from that early 80s era, The Undertones. The former Radio 1 DJ John Peel made this band popular by playing one of their songs on his show. “Teenage Kicks” was their biggest hit and remains a track synonymous with the punk era to this day. However, it’s a song that kind of annoys me and I think that their single “My Perfect Cousin” was much better. I love the lyrics. They are very clever and even funny in places. I hope you enjoy it =)
