So the ones that were expected to do well are in there with fantasy flick Hugo picking up the most nominations with 11, The Artist with 10, Moneyball and War Horse with 6 a piece and The Descendants getting the nod for 5 nominations. Films that aren’t getting much luck this year are Drive and Melancholia that were both expected to pick up more nominations that they have. Drive is only selected for one award – sound editing and its star Ryan Gosling has been completely snubbed. A big shock this one as he has had a very good year with both Drive and The Ides Of March being big hits at the box office.

Those are the nominees, in my next blog, I shall give you my predictions, and hopefully give you some more reviews of some movies taking part in the coming weeks in the lead up to February 26th and Oscar night, hosted this year by fans’ favourite, Billy Crystal. The tension mounts eh?
