Right dear readers, time for another movie review because I realise its been quite some time since I did one, so I better get my ass in gear. What better film to give us a thrill ride than the 2009 movie GI Joe: Rise Of The Cobra.

Based on the Hasbro action figures, basically the US version of Action Man, this movie is an action packed 2 hours which tells the story of how two ordinary soldiers manage to get themselves recruited by an elite unit known as GI Joe. This unit is not known to exist and it has some of the most advanced technology known to man, including a secret base – awsome! Its the stuff your school playtimes were made of. Along the way of course, there is an evil unit which has equally lethal technology and both sides will do battle many times in attempt to save or conquer the world.

The movie on the surface sounds pants, I know, but I was thoroughly entertained by it. It was easy on the brain, and stars many big actors, including – deep breath – Dennis Quaid, Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller, Christopher Eccleston, Brendan Fraser, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marlon Wayans and Rachel Nichols amongst others. Wow eh? Ok, so some of the parts are short cameos, but it adds kudos to the movie and unsurprisingly, it was a huge hit. Green Lantern? forget it, this is much more of a watch, entertaining, action packed, funny in places, and some very good special effects.

I would recommend this movie if you want to have a couple of hours entertainment and don’t want to think much about what is going on. Its pretty predictable, but you don’t mind because the action is great. A decent plotline and writing makes this an equally decent 7.5/10 from me. It has a good music soundtrack and with a sequel being released next summer, it is sure to be a hit. Go watch it. =)
