Synopsis: Two undercover agents have to team up to infiltrate a drugs cartel. The only problem is that neither knows that the other is working undercover; a fact that brings its own awkward moments.
Main Cast: Denzel Washington, Mark Wahlberg, Edward James Olmos, Paula Patton, Bill Paxton, James Marsden
The Hype: This one didn’t get much exposure, but it did do reasonably well at the box office and certainly made back its budget.
What I Thought: This was okay, there are some really good pieces of action in it and quite a lot of humorous exchanges between the two protagonists, particularly when they find out who they really are. The story is reasonable, and the film was definitely better than director Baltasar Kormakur’s other more well-known effort Contraband, but for me Bill Paxton gave the stand out performance in the movie as the sleazy CIA man intent on getting back the money that has been stolen. He takes no shit either and does actually follow through on his threats.
Conclusions: Not too shabby, not brilliant, but it passed a couple of hours without having to think too much about what was going on. A DVD gift this year I would say for those who like Mark Wahlberg movies…;-)
